Join Ria for an online introduction to natural dyeing - Thursday 19th November - 5-7pm GMT

In this online workshop, Ria will share an introduction to the world of natural dyeing using natural fibre yarns and fabrics. Ria will demonstrate and show examples of the vibrant colours that can be achieved with homegrown and foraged plants, food wastes and dye extracts.

During an introductory talk, Ria will cover the following topics:

  • How to prepare natural fibres for the dye pot

  • How to choose the right natural dye for your project

  • Different natural dyeing methods and techniques

  • Where to source dyes, fibres and other supplies

They will then demonstrate the dyeing process live, using a variety of yarns, fabrics and natural dyes.

The workshop will be hosted live on Zoom, and you will be able to ask questions throughout the session.

If you cannot make the live session, you will be sent the recording and be able to catch up for 30 days after the workshop. Along with the recording, you will be sent a PDF explaining the methods outlined in the workshop, and list of equipment, suppliers and further reading.

“The presentation, information, and hands on explanation was very helpful. Ria followed up the workshop with the recording and pdf. All outstanding. I've followed her for many years and enjoy her book, Dyeing Yarn Naturally. Am hoping for her to do an indigo zoom workshop! Thank you, Ria for your efforts and talents”
