Shipping and Returns

We ship worldwide via Royal Mail. Orders are posted within three working days of purchase.

Shipping is calculated by weight of item, for example:

  • UK: between £3.00 (for e.g. seeds) and £5.00 (for e.g sweater)

  • European Union: between £12.00 and £28.00 - this includes a pre-paid customs duty

  • USA: between £10.00 and £18.00 - a 10% handling fee will be added at checkout for US customers to account for import tariffs. No extra tariffs will be paid on receipt of your order.

  • Rest of world: between £7.00 and £12.00

    All UK orders are sent by the Tracked 48 service. All international orders are sent International Tracked. These services are insured to the full value of your order in the unlikely event an order goes missing or arrives damaged.

UK shipping is free when you spend over £75, and free for international orders over £200.

Payment. We use Squarespace Payments and Paypal to process our payments, and you can choose which method to use for payment at checkout.

Custom Orders. Commissions and custom orders are welcome. After a design, price and timescale is agreed, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before we commence work on the order. We will invoice you via email, with payment to be made by bank transfer. The remaining 50% is due on delivery. You will be kept informed of progress throughout the process via email.

Delivery. Some items are in stock, whereas some are made to order. This will be listed on the individual items’ page in our shop. We aim to ship in stock items within three working days (Monday-Friday), and made to order items within 2-3 weeks. You will be informed by email when your order has shipped, and we will let you know if there is a delay for reasons beyond our control (e.g. illness, mechanical issues).

UK. We send most of our products out via Royal Mail Tracked 48, a service that is insured to the value of your goods. This normally takes 2 days to arrive. Orders with a value over £150 will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery - this is a next day tracked service that requires a signature on delivery. UK Shipping ranges from £3-£5, depending on the size and weight of item ordered.

EU. Orders from customers within the European Union will be sent via Royal Mail International Tracked, a service that is insured to the value of your goods. A duty charge of €3 per type of item is included in the cost of your shipping. This is in line with the new temporary flat fee legislation on low-value imports, which will apply until 1 July 2028. You will incur no additional costs on receipt of your order.

USA. We ship worldwide via Royal Mail International Tracked, a service that is insured to the value of your goods. In line with the new tariffs on goods imported from outside the US, a 10% handling fee will be added at checkout. This applies to value of physical goods only, not shipping or digital goods. Royal Mail collect the tariffs at point of export, meaning that you will incur no additional costs upon receipt of your goods.

Rest of the World. We ship worldwide via Royal Mail International Tracked, a service that is insured to the value of your goods. Orders may attract may attract import duty and local sales taxes, which some customers may need to pay on receipt. Any parcels returned to us due to customs charges being higher than expected; we reserve the right to deduct all costs incurred.

Shipping is calculated by weight, and prices vary according to country: Europe £10-£18, USA £10-£18, rest of world £12-£18.

Returns. We hope you will be entirely satisfied with your Ria Burns Knitwear order, but if for any reason you are not, items you would like to return for an exchange or refund will be accepted within 28 days of delivery to you. Items returned outside of the 28 day period will only be accepted if they have been authorised by us first. Please note that your statutory rights are not affected. Your refund will be made by the same method used for the purchase. You are responsible for the postage costs of returned or exchanged items. Please note that item are considered your property until it arrives with us, and we are not liable to refund or exchange it. The item must still have all labels attached and be in the same condition it was sent to you, so we can re-sell it. Once we have received the item and checked that it is in a re-saleable condition, we will refund or exchange the item. We aim to process all returns within 48 hours of reaching us and will email or write to confirm when this has been done. To return an item, please email hello@riaburns.co.uk.

Sample sale items are sold as seen, and therefore excluded from this returns policy.
