Over the weekend (April 2019) my husband and I built the raised beds for my natural dye garden! It was a mammoth task that started with clearing the horrendous pile of weeds that used to be a lawn, a massive wood delivery and circular saw, and ended up with the frame for some very fancy looking raised beds.

We used sustainably sourced wood from a local timber merchant to reduce the carbon footprint of the build, borrowed a circular saw from a mate and took all the garden waste to be composted. Sadly the weed membrane is plastic, but we chose a more expensive heavy duty one, so that it will last longer.

It took a lot of blood and sweat, but no tears (just a lot of swearing!). The next job is to fill it with topsoil, once our arms start working again…
