POSTPONED - Pattern Design on the Knitting Machine

POSTPONED - Pattern Design on the Knitting Machine

This event has been postponed until later in the year. Join the mailing list to be the first to find out the next date…

Learn how to design your own colourful and textured patterns for machine knitting using punchcards. After looking at a variety of ways that this analogue technology can be used, we will get creative with colour and pattern with a collage and drawing session, then use graph paper to plot out some designs into a repeat pattern.

In the afternoon we will punch your chosen pattern onto punchcards and get knitting, making plenty of swatches and a snood or scarf with your own design.

A basic knowledge of using knitting machines is required for this workshop. We will be using Brother knitting machines, all equipment and yarns are provided.

This workshop is at Bristol Textile Quarter. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring your own lunch or purchase from one of the nearby cafes.
